Andrea Laurent Simpson
Laurent-Simpson is a research assistant professor and lecturer at Southern Methodist University. Her work is award-winning and examines identity theory, family and fertility, and human-nonhuman animal interaction. Her research uses original data to investigate the impact of human-nonhuman animal relationships on: familial identities; household structure and identity formation; changes in cultural definitions of who counts as family; and changing fertility rates that have aided in the emergence of a “multi-species” family post-1970’s in the U.S.
