Author of the novels, Ordinary Horror and Last Things (Viking, 2001, 2002), the essay collection, Shame and Wonder, and the extended essay, The Tiny Bee that Hovers at the Center of the World (Random House, 2016, 2021). Graduated from SMU in 1969. Lives and works in Dallas and Corsicana, TX.
